How Group Therapy Is Effective

Have you ever felt alone while walking through something? Felt like you are the only person dealing with a specific trauma or feeling? Sharing with a group of strangers might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you are processing your feelings, but it can be a great tool to learn how to relate through grief, connect with others to heal, and learn from others. While each individual’s experiences, perspectives, and circumstances are unique to them, there are multiple clinical studies that reveal the efficacy of Group Therapy.

What exactly is Group Therapy?

Group therapy at Arcadian Therapeutic Services is currently running bi-weekly 1.5 hour sessions of 6-8 people who will walk through their unique stories together and the feelings/beliefs associated with those stories.  In our experience, group therapy is one of the best ways to see your experience through the non-bias lens of others removed from your situation.  These groups are a great way to get started with therapy; you also have the option to go further in your recovery after meeting for a season one-on-one with one of our coaches.

There is no pressure on when you share with others or introduce yourself. You can listen and learn at your own pace until you feel comfortable with the group. There is always continued work during the duration of the bi-weekly meetings with assignments to go deep in soul care and prepare for the fullness of the group.

How is Group Therapy effective?

Group Therapy has been researched for over 50 years and clinicians have found that having the opportunity to both give and receive support is extremely important in the healing and treatment process.
